MID CENTURY STYLE

These clients have a passion for architecture and came to Yarrum Designer Homes wanting a home design unlike any of their neighbours in The Vintage Estate, Pokolbin. With an interest in mid-century style, the client brief included a desire for clean lines, a mix of materials, lots of natural light and street presence.

The design delivered these elements with strong lines to the front façade, a high contrast colour palette, an interesting entry courtyard with a mix of material, high internal ceilings and large expanse of windows. 

Key features

• A cantilevered projection and silicon joined corner window are a striking element.
• An internal courtyard allows natural light to three sides of the home, while also retaining privacy.
• Newtech composite flooring to the courtyard is natural looking, long lasting and ultra-low maintenance.
• Internal Blackbutt battens between the entry and the living are another mid-century feature, add warmth to the colour scheme and also separation between the spaces.
• Large format Terazzo look tiling in warm grey tones runs throughout the home providing a perfect base for dark, light and timber joinery
• Under floor heating to all tiled areas.
• Airslate draws the eye to the living room where it runs from floor to ceiling encapsulating the fireplace.
• Repetition of blackbutt timber throughout the home provides consistency. Timber ends to the kitchen island, timber steps leading to the living and dining area, WIR joinery and timber vanities to all ensuites and bathrooms.
• Large glass doors open to the alfresco and pool area off the living room.
• The kitchen design is streamlined and has a full suite of AEG cooking appliances and Vintec multi temperature Wine Cabinet.
• A tucked away media room is a cosy space for movie nights
• A soft undulating curved feature wall to the Master bedroom creates a hotel inspired suite with a well thought-out walk-in robe and bold terrazzo ensuite to complete the picture.
